Plan your trip
What to do in Tunis
Start with the medina, then spend another half-day exploring Carthage and Sidi Bou Said. The Carthage sites are spread out, so choose a few stops rather than trying to visit everything at once.
Where to stay
Central Tunis is convenient for the medina and city sights. La Marsa or Sidi Bou Said offer a more coastal atmosphere, but travel to the centre takes longer.
Getting around and when to visit
Taxis, public transport and private transfers can make a car-free trip possible. Spring and autumn are often comfortable for sightseeing; summer visits are best planned around the hottest hours.
